Become an Ambassador - Summer Tour Guides Wanted!

Do you love Purdue? Want to share your experience with prospective students and families? Looking for a job that lets you get in a workout while enjoying the summer weather? Apply to be a Summer Purdue Ambassador! The Office of Admissions is looking for students to give campus tours from May-August, anywhere from 15-40 hours/week. Hours are flexible and can work around classes, vacation, etc. As a tour guide, you will give multiple tours (per week) of campus to visitors and guests. You will learn about Purdue, its history, and many of the opportunities it offers for students on campus.

Requirements

  • Must be a currently enrolled undergraduate at Purdue University (West Lafayette Campus).
  • Must be able to commit to a minimum of 15hrs a week during their summer term*
  • Must have excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to represent Purdue University effectively to numerous constituencies (alumni, school groups, prospective graduate students, corporate and VIP guests, and faculty and staff).
  • Ability to work without direct supervision.
  • Have a positive, enthusiastic attitude and strong customer service skills.
  • Have a strong sense of school spirit.
* Summer term is dependent on student’s availability (i.e. which months/weeks they will be local for giving tours)

Responsibilities

  • Provide campus tours to prospective and admitted students.
  • Serve as a host, advocate and information resource for campus visitors, faculty, staff and students during your office hours at the Boilermaker Station Welcome Center.
  • Assist with special campus tours and lead tours as needed during your office hours at the Welcome Center.
  • Record statistics on guests who call and visit the center during your shift.
  • Report directly to the Campus Tours & Ambassador Coordinator for other Admissions-related work.
