Residency

It is common for military-affiliated students to be flagged out-of-state for tuition purposes; however, as a veteran, member of the military, or family member, you may qualify for in-state residency for tuition purposes. There are many nuances to residency and we recommend you communicate with Purdue’s Residency Office if you have questions or wish to apply. If your initial request is denied, many students successfully appeal the decision and ultimately only pay the in-state tuition rate.

You may be eligible for in-state residency for tuition purposes if:

  • You are an active duty service member stationed in the state of Indiana
  • You are a member of the Indiana National Guard, Indiana Air National Guard or a reservist assigned to a unit in the state of Indiana
  • You are a veteran of the armed services
  • You are the dependent of an active duty service member or of a veteran
