Coal Receiving and Handling

Coal Receiving Facility

Purdue Wade Power Plant burns approximately 150,000 tons of Southern Indiana coal per year at a cost of more than $4.5 million. The coal is delivered daily by truck

Coal Handing
Coal is transported from dump hopper to bunker, utilizing the belt conveyor, scraper conveyor, bucket elevator or new long belt conveyor, and the drag conveyor.

From the bunker the coal moves to the stoker, using drag chain, augers, and gravity bypasses.

The hopper to bunker capacity = 100 tons per hour. Total bunker storage = 4,000 tons.
