| Tips
for Survival at Purdue |
- Read the bulletin board and any other posted information
around you.
- Read the table announcements in your residence hall and
flyers placed on your floor - all contain valuable information.
- Buy a Mortar Board (Purdue's calendar, available at bookstores)
or some other schedule planner and USE IT!
- Get involved! College is more than classes and books.
- Always check the weather before going outside - looks
can be deceiving.
- Take advantage of the Recreational Sports Center - not
only is it great stress relief, but it's the best way to
avoid the "Freshman 15."
- Learn meal and guest hours to save hunger and embarrassment.
- Learn how to do your laundry. Quarters are a college
student's best friend!
- Meet the professors of all your classes at least once,
even if it's just to say, "Hi, I'm in your class."
- Don't be afraid to ask for help when you need it. The
easiest way to learn is to ask questions, even if they seem
stupid.
- Try to budget your money - spending can get away from
you rather quickly.
- Keep your room/apartment key and ID with you at all times!
This point CANNOT be emphasized enough! A replacement key
will cost $25 or more, and a replacement ID is $20.
- Get a bank account with an ATM card.
- Very helpful tip: Harry's Chocolate Shop does not sell
chocolate.
- Learn where the ITaP computer labs are, and which ones are used
the most and when.
- Get out, meet people, study hard, and HAVE FUN!!
