Honors Courses and Programs

 

Honors Courses

Honors courses are designed to offer an enriching experience.

All eligible USP students can participate in Purdue honors courses.  Eligibility requirements for enrolling in honors courses are listed below:

  • Incoming freshmen must have:

a) An SAT (verbal, written, and math) score of 1800 (out of 2400), or

b) An ACT composite score of 26 (out of 36), or

c) Be in the top 10% of their high school class.

  • Current Purdue students and transfer students from Purdue regional campuses must have at least a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.

  • High achieving transfer students from all other institutions are encouraged to consider taking an honors class.
a) If interested in taking an HONR course or an honors section of a course offered by the College of Liberal Arts, please visit the Liberal Arts Honors Program Office in Beering Hall, room 1114.  Please bring a transcript from your former institution with you.
 
b) If interested in honors sections not offered by the College of Liberal Arts, please see your academic advisor.

To find information about honors courses that are offered, you may do the following:

1. View the listing of Honors (HONR) courses offered by the University Honors Program


2. Use myPurdue to search for Honors (HONR) course offerings:
    • Click on “Look Up Classes”, select the appropriate term, then click “Submit”
    • Select “Honors” as the Subject
    • Click “Class Search”
     

3. Use myPurdue to search for honors sections of courses (e.g. COM 11400 & PSY 12000) offered by various departments:

    •  Click on “Look Up Classes”, select the appropriate term, then click “Submit”
    • Select at least one Subject
    • Select “Honors” as the Attribute Type
    • Click “Class Search”
 

 4. View the list of honors sections of courses offered by the College of Liberal Arts:

Honors Programs

If you are interested in enrolling in an honors program, there are several offered on campus.

As a USP student, you may apply to participate in the following program:

Once you CODO out of USP, you may apply to participate in one of the other honors programs offered by many of the colleges and schools.  Please be aware that the eligibility criteria and application procedures vary among the programs.  To find out more information about one of these programs, please contact that office directly.  The information is contained in the links below.
