Probation Letter (Example)
Dear USP Student:
I have been notified by the University Registrar that you
have been placed on academic probation. There are many issues that lead to being placed on academic probation.
Likewise, there are many strategies one might employ to get back on the right track. The
staff of the Undergraduate Studies Program is here to offer assistance to ensure that you
are aware of the many resources and strategies available to you. The process of getting
off of academic probation begins as follows:
If you believe any of your grades are in error, please contact your professor
directly.
Reflect on what went wrong: Too heavy a class load? Too light? Wrong courses? Study habits? Time management? Other? Only you can assess the real reasons.
Visit the Laying Tracks USP webpage and complete the five academic success exercises (see enclosed second page for web address and visual of the Laying Tracks webpage).
The web address is: http://www.purdue.edu/usp/current/cur_laying_tracks.shtml
We are here to assist you in reaching your goal of a Purdue University diploma. To do so,
we need your full cooperation, hard work and dedication. Make an appointment to see
your academic advisor during the second or third week of the upcoming semester. Please
print off, complete, and bring all five academic success exercises to your appointment – it
is imperative that you meet with your academic advisor at the start of the semester to
develop a more effective plan!
We look forward
to working with you, and to success in the coming semester.
Sincerely,
Susan K. Aufderheide, Ph.D.
Director
