Using myPurdue and Banner beginning July 21

myPurdue is a new portal system that is replacing SSINFO as the source for student academic and financial account information at Purdue. The software package is called Banner, so you may hear your USP advisor and others refer to it by that name as well.

Some of the benefits of myPurdue include online registration in real time and online credit card payment for tuition.

What You Need to Do (now that myPurdue & Banner are here)

  • Confirm that you plan to attend Purdue this fall. Do this in myPurdue after you receive your tuition & fee statement in July but before the start of classes, even if your balance due is zero.
  • Review your class schedule and make any changes in myPurdue yourself. Be sure to check the schedule of classes for prerequisites or other requirements for any course you wish to add. We recommend you check with your academic advisor before you add or drop a class.
  • Check for available space in the desired section for any course in which you were previously wait-listed. If a space is available, you must add the course yourself in myPurdue. Again, you are strongly encouraged to check with your advisor before adding or dropping a class.

Add and drop classes

Some tips before you try to add or drop a class:

  • Be sure to consult your academic advisor before adding or dropping any classes, as it may affect your curriculum plan.
  • Changes made in this database occur in “real time.” If you drop a class, your seat in that class is immediately available for another student. If you change your mind later, the class may be full.
  • Keep in mind that students at the West Lafayette campus are restricted to 18 credit hours per semester. Consider your course load, extracurricular activities and employment when adding a new class.
  • When dropping classes, remember that full time is 12 credit hours per semester for undergraduates. Dropping below this course load could affect your financial aid, assessed fees, health insurance, athletic eligibility, and international student visa requirements.
  • Be mindful of any course prerequisites or other requirements before attempting to add a course. Prerequisite checking within the system is currently disabled for the Fall 2008 semester, so check with your advisor before registration about which prerequisites you may or may not have fulfilled.
  • Copy or write down CRNs as you are scheduling classes!
