Forward Your Purdue Email

E-mail has become the main communication portal between all Purdue offices and students.  To make sure that you do not miss important registration announcements and course updates, take the time to check your Purdue e-mail on a regular basis. We recommend you do this at least daily.

If you want to forward e-mail from other accounts to your Purdue account (i.e. your “@purdue.edu” address), edit your preferences for that e-mail service to send mail directly to your Purdue account.

We do NOT recommend that you forward your Purdue e-mail to your personal (i.e. - non-Purdue) account. Students have reported that some Purdue e-mails forwarded into their personal account were treated as spam and deleted before they could be read.

If you still want to forward your Purdue account e-mail to another service, follow these steps:

  1. Go to ITaP’s Secure Purdue homepage: http://www.purdue.edu/securePurdue/.
  2. Click on the link “Change Your Password” in the right-hand column.
  3. Login using your current Purdue Career Account username and password.
  4. In the “Your Accounts Tools” box, click on the link to “Change Mailbox.”
  5. The second option on this page will allow you to forward your Purdue e-mail to an e-mail address of your choice.
  6. Save Changes and then Logout.

Admitted students (including beginning, transfer, re-entry, and re-admitted students) who are setting up their accounts for the first time would follow steps #1-4 above.  They would then click on the radio button to “Use Purdue Email Service.”  Until this is done, students will not be able to receive or read any of their Purdue e-mail.
