Airline officials to land at Purdue for Sept. 25 recruitment event

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Officials from Atlantic Southeast Airlines will visit the Purdue University Airport on Sept. 25 to talk with aviation technology students about careers with the company.

Atlantic Southeast Airlines, a Delta Connection carrier, will land a 50-passenger Bombardier Canadair Regional Jet (CRJ200) at the airport at 1 p.m.

Officials from the company will talk to students about internship and employment opportunities that include working as a pilot, airplane maintenance specialist or in management. Students also will be able to tour the aircraft, sit in the flight deck and learn about how the aircraft operates.

The event is open to aviation technology student, as well as high school students who would like to learn more about careers in the aviation industry.

The CRJ200 that will be on campus is one of 92 that the company has in its fleet. ASA also has 40-passenger and 70-passenger regional jets, as well as 66-passenger turboprops.

Darrin Greubel, manager of flight standards for Atlantic Southeast Airlines, said the company has been involved with recruiting at Purdue and other universities in the past but that this is the first time the company has flown an aircraft in to be part of the recruitment event.

"We're excited to once again visit the Purdue campus and welcome Purdue students to come check out the exciting career opportunities ASA has to offer," he said. "We have hired a number of Purdue graduates in the past and have been extremely pleased with the quality of pilots the Purdue aviation program produces."

The airline has maintenance bases in seven cities around the country: Atlanta; Macon, Ga.; Baton Rouge, La.; Shreveport, La.; Columbia, S.C.; Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; and Montgomery, Ala.
