Burns, vice president for business services and assistant treasurer, said: "As the first year of a two-year integrated budget plan, we are able to address inflationary budget pressures and apply significant resources toward our continuing technology-related expenditures."
Purdue President Steven C. Beering said: "We are grateful that the 1997-98 budget will allow us to give merit increases that keep Purdue competitive and to address our ever-expanding needs for improvements in undergraduate computing capabilities, new innovations in teaching technologies, and state-of-the-art equipment that prepares our students for success in the workplace."
