Lafayette businessman to be honored by Krannert

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- James K. Risk III, president and chief executive officer, Kirby Risk Corp. of Lafayette, will receive the 1997 Krannert School of Management Distinguished Executive Award at 6 p.m. Saturday (4/19) at the University Inn.

Risk is being honored for his business leadership, entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to excellence. This second annual award is sponsored by Beta Gamma Sigma (an undergraduate business honor society), Krannert School of Management and the School of Management Council.

Dean Dennis Weidenaar said the award recognizes top entrepreneurs, managers and executives from the state of Indiana.

"I am delighted that Jim Risk has been selected for this award," he said. "Not only is Jim a leader in his industry, but also he is a leader in his community. He is active in business organizations and civic activities statewide. I am particularly proud that he has been a member of the Purdue Krannert School of Management Dean's Advisory Council since 1988."

Last year's award recipient was Jerry Ehrlich, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Wabash National Corp.
