• Thursday, Feb. 19. 8 a.m. Rawls Hall, Room 3982. Burton D. Morgan Entrepreneurial Competition. Finalists of Purdue student-faculty teams present business plans to a panel of academic and venture capitalist judges and compete for $100,000 in prizes. Awards ceremony scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Sponsored by the Burton D. Morgan Center for Entrepreneurship.

** • Monday, Feb. 23. 10:30 a.m. South Ballroom, Purdue Memorial Union. Erin McGinnis, a 2002 industrial engineering graduate will speak on "New Faces of Engineering – How to get Your Engineering Career Started off Right … And my Experiences on the Joint Strike Fighter."

** • Tuesday, Feb. 24. 9 a.m. Engineers Week Lecture Series. Fowler Hall, Stewart Center. Purdue alumnus David Spencer will speak on "The Mars Exploration Program." Spencer served five years as mission manager for the Mars Odyssey mission. He will speak about his experiences in the Mars exploration program, as well as the future of Mars exploration.

** • Friday, Feb. 27. 9:30-11:30 a.m. "The Outlook for International Trade: The Future of Jobs, Technology and Economic Growth." Fowler Hall, Stewart Center. A panel of U.S. and international officials and business leaders will address issues surrounding job growth and movement in the global economy, including ways graduating students and others can capitalize on the potential of international business. Panelists will include Michael Kanton, former U.S. secretary of commerce and trade representative; Thomas F. McLarty III, White House chief of staff and special envoy to the Americas under President Clinton; Chan Heng Chen, Singaporean ambassador to the United States; Yang Jieche, Chinese ambassador to the United States; and Mike Eskew, UPS chairman and CEO.

• Saturday, Feb. 28. 11 a.m. Lambert Fieldhouse. Purdue Rube Goldberg Machine Contest. Eight Purdue teams will use complex machines to vote and cast a ballot in at least 20 steps. The winner will advance to the national contest. Doors open at 10:30 a.m.

• Friday, Feb. 20. 8 p.m. Moscow State Radio Symphony Orchestra and Chorus. Elliott Hall of Music. Presented by Purdue Convocations. Tickets are $18 to $34 for the public and $16 to $25 for students.

** • Sunday, Feb. 22. 2:30 p.m. Purdue Symphonic Band and Symphony Orchestra in concert. Long Center for the Performing Arts, 111 N. Sixth St., Lafayette.

• Thursday, Feb. 26. 7:30 p.m. Imani Winds. Fowler Hall, Stewart Center. Presented by Purdue Convocations. Tickets are $10.

** • Saturday, February 28. 10:30 a.m. "Whad' Ya Know?" Elliott Hall of Music. Live radio broadcast presented by WBAA AM/FM and Purdue Convocations. Tickets are $22 and $28 for the public, $18 and $22 for Purdue students.

• Sunday, Feb. 29. 2:30 p.m. Windworks. Performances by three Purdue concert bands. Long Center for the Performing Arts, 111 N. Sixth St., Lafayette.

• Friday, March 5. 8 p.m. Stagedoor Spectacular, featuring Purdue Bands' American Music Review, Boiler Brass and Purdue Auxiliaries. Long Center for the Performing Arts, 111 N. Sixth St., Lafayette.

** • Friday, March 5. 8 p.m. Karsh Kale. Loeb Playhouse, Stewart Center. An expedition into the uncharted sound of South Asian American electronica. Presented by Purdue Convocations. Tickets are $25 for the public, $18 for students.

• Saturday, March 6. 7 p.m. Purdue Bands Jazz Combos. Long Center for the Performing Arts, 111 N. Sixth St., Lafayette.

** • Saturday, March 6. 7:30 p.m. Lonestar with special guest Jimmy Wayne. Elliott Hall of Music. Presented by Purdue Convocations. Tickets are $33 for the public, $25 for Purdue students.

** • Sunday, March 7. 3 p.m. Angela Jia Kim, piano. Fowler Hall, Stewart Center. Presented by Purdue Convocations. Tickets are $10.

• Wednesday, Feb. 18. 12:30 p.m. Jewish Studies Noon Series. Stewart Center, Room 214B. Rabbi Audrey S. Pollack, Temple Israel, West Lafayette, will speak on "Spirituality and Jewish Women: From Tkhines Literature to the Prayers of Modernity."

• Wednesday, Feb. 18. 7:30 p.m. Fowler Hall, Stewart Center. James T. Patterson, Ford Foundation Professor of History at Brown University, will give a lecture on Brown vs. the Board of Education for the 2004 History Forum, sponsored by Purdue's history department. Patterson is the author of "Brown v. Board of Education: A Civil Rights Milestone and Its Troubled Legacy" (Oxford University Press, 2001). An audience question-and-answer session will follow Patterson's talk.

• Thursday, Feb. 19. 4 p.m. Books and Coffee. Stewart Center, rooms 302 and 306. David Blakesley, associate professor of English and director of professional writing, will discuss Erik Larson's "The Devil in the White City." Coffee and tea is available at 4 p.m., with the half-hour talk beginning at 4:30 p.m.

• Friday, Feb. 20. 11:30 a.m. Krannert Executive Forum Series. Rawls Hall, Room 1086. Henry Suerth, Starbucks Coffee Co. senior vice president for business alliances, will speak on "Common Threads in Successful Business Initiatives and Lessons Learned Throughout the Years."

• Wednesday, Feb. 25. 4:30 p.m. E-Business Lecture Series. Rawls Hall, Room 3082. Jim Garn, director of Nissan North America's Dealer E-Business Solutions, will speak on "The Automotive Industry Under Transformation."

• Wednesday, Feb. 25. 7 p.m. Department of Health & Kinesiology Colloquium Series. Purdue Memorial Union, West Faculty Lounge. Peter Crocker, director of the School of Human Kinetics at the University of British Columbia, will present "Stress Related to Physical Activity in Young Women: The Tyranny of the Body."

** • Thursday, Feb. 26. 3:30 p.m. Service Learning Lecture. West Faculty Lounge, Purdue Memorial Union. William C. Oakes, assistant professor of engineering and director of entrepreneurship initiatives, will present a lecture on the characteristics of successful service-learning, discuss resources available at Purdue and share ideas for future service-learning projects.

• Thursday, Feb. 26. 4 p.m. Books and Coffee. Stewart Center, rooms 302 and 306. Sally Mason, university provost, will discuss Dan Brown's "The Da Vinci Code." Coffee and tea is available at 4 p.m., with the half-hour talk beginning at 4:30 p.m.

• Friday, Feb 27. 11:30 a.m. Krannert Executive Forum Series. Rawls Hall, Room 1086. Randy Goss, Equipment Support Services Inc. president and CEO, will speak on "The Successful Rollup: How Consolidations Fail."

** • Wednesday, March 3. 12:30 p.m. Jewish Studies Noon Series. Stewart Center, Room 318. S.L. Wisenberg, author of "Holocaust Girls: History, Memory, and Other Obsessions," will speak. The lecture title is "Holocaust Girls: Looking for a 21st Century Jewish Identity."

** • Thursday, March 4. 4:30 p.m. Department of Philosophy Spring 2004 Colloquium Series. University Hall, Room 201. Alvin Plantinga, the John A. O'Brien professor of philosophy at the University of Notre Dame, will present "Against Materialism."

** • Friday, March 5. 11:30 a.m. Krannert Executive Forum Series. Rawls Hall, Room 1086. Ann Murtlow, Indianapolis Power & Light Co. president and CEO, will speak on "Take a Chance … Risk/Reward as it Pertains to Personal Development."

** • Wednesday, March. 10. 7 p.m. Department of Health and Kinesiology Colloquium Series. Purdue Memorial Union, West Faculty Lounge. Marcia G. Ory, professor of social and behavioral health and director of the Active for Life National Program Office at the School of Rural Public Health at Texas A&M University, will present "Combating Ageist Stereotypes: Strategies for Building a Healthier Society?"

** • Wednesday, March 10. 8 p.m. Jewish Studies Public Lecture Series. Krannert Auditorium, Krannert Building. Vicky Saker Woeste, senior research fellow at the American Bar Foundation in Chicago, will speak on "Jewish Lawyers and Conflicts of Interest in the Henry Ford Libel Suits."

** • Friday, March 12. 11:30 a.m. Krannert Executive Forum Series. Rawls Hall, Room 1086. Randall Lewis, Anthem Inc. senior vice president of internal audit, process involvement and chief compliance officer, will speak on "Corporate Ethics."
