The McCutcheon family
John Tinney and Evelyn Shaw McCutcheon had three sons, John Tinney Jr.,
Shaw and George Barr. John Jr. once said, in a foreward to a booklet
featuring his father's drawings, that the three always felt they were
Hoosiers at heart even though they were raised in Chicago.
John McCutcheon's older brother, George Barr McCutcheon, was a famous
author. Having started out as a reporter and then city editor of the
Lafayette Courier, he went on to write novels, including "The Sherrods" and
"Brewster's Millions."
McCutcheon's younger brother Ben was in the advertising business in
Chicago. His sister, Jessie, married and lived in Chicago and New York, and
was known for making and selling dolls.
