Faculty and staff honors

— Carole DeHaven, a continuing lecturer in the Department of Health and Kinesiology, received a Leadership Award from the Indiana Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance. The award was presented in November at the association's state conference.

— Richard A. Cosier, dean of the School of Management and Krannert Graduate School of Management, has been named chairman of the Maintenance of Accreditation Committee of AACSB International — The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. Cosier leads the committee that oversees the five-year maintenance of review of AACSB-accredited business schools. The review is a key component of the ongoing continuous improvement process required by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business standards. Founded in 1916, the association, which accredits 528 business schools in 30 nations, is the business education community's professional development organization, conducting a wide array of conference and seminar programs at various locations around the world.

— Janice Sojka, associate professor of large animal medicine in the School of Veterinary Medicine, was awarded a Scholarship of Engagement grant from the Indiana Campus Compact in the amount of $3,000 for her project titled "PetSafe: Providing short-term emergency housing for pets owned by families in crisis." Indiana Campus Compact is a membership organization that awards sub-grants to students, faculty and staff who create projects, curriculum and programs for students and the community. The Lilly Endowment provides funding for the program. Sojka was one of 10 faculty members from colleges and universities throughout Indiana who received grants for the development of projects promoting civic engagement and service learning in higher education.
