U.N. food program director to speak Oct. 26WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - James Morris, executive director of the United Nations World Food Programme, will speak Thursday (Oct. 26) at 4:30 p.m. in the East and West Faculty Lounges of the Purdue Memorial Union.
Morris appears as part of the 2006 Eva Goble Lecture Series.
As director of the world's largest food aid organization, Morris is on the front line in the battle against global hunger and malnutrition.
The 2006 Eva Goble Lecture Series is presented by the Department of Consumer Sciences and Retailing and the College of Consumer and Family Sciences. There is no charge for the program, but seating is limited. To reserve a seat, call (765) 494-7890, (800) 535-7303 or e-mail cfsalums@purdue.edu.
The Eva Goble Lecture Series, established in 1992, honors the dean emerita of the College of Consumer and Family Sciences and her contributions to the people of Indiana. Goble was dean from 1967 to 1973. Among her accomplishments, she maximized the Cooperative Extension Service's network to better acquaint people across the state with Purdue. Goble also was instrumental in establishing Twin Pines cooperative house. In 1972, she was the first recipient of Purdue's Frederick L. Hovde Award of Excellence, which honors a Purdue staff member who contributes to the progress of rural Indiana.
