Purdue student leaders to attend retreat at Camp TecumsehWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. Approximately 110 student leaders at Purdue University will attend the fifth annual Student Leaders Retreat this week at Camp Tecumseh in Brookston, Ind.The theme for this year's retreat, which will be held Wednesday to Friday, is "Survivor." Retreat attendees will learn about leadership, collaboration, networking, embracing diversity and being inclusive. The Student Activities and Organizations area of the Office of the Dean of Students is sponsoring the retreat. A panel of campus administrators will be assembled to provide updates on campus events and answer questions. A town meeting, during which student organization leaders will share information about upcoming events and programs, also will take place. Purdue President Martin C. Jischke and several Purdue vice presidents will join the student leaders for lunch at 11:45 a.m. Thursday (Aug. 17) in Scheumann Lodge. Karyn Nishimura Sneath of Npower Training will be the keynote speaker. Bridget Williams Golden, assistant dean of students, said the student leaders look forward to the retreat each year. "The Student Leaders Retreat serves as a dynamic energizer for our student leaders," she said. "It gets them back and ready for the school year. The retreat will be most beneficial to students who are involved in undergraduate student organizations that plan campuswide programs, provide diversity education, sponsor diversity programs, govern a large segment of the student population or produce a campus publication since it will foster collaboration between other organizations and administrators at Purdue."
