Purdue executive VP selected to lead national college business organization
The association of more than 2,500 members represents more than two-thirds of the higher educational institutions in the United States. The professional association, based in Washington, D.C., serves chief administrative and financial officers through knowledge dissemination, professional development, advocacy and development of community. Olsen, who has been at Purdue since 2004, administers both the university's $1.5 billion operating and capital budget and manages university properties, investments and trust funds. Olsen also oversees Purdue's business services, internal audit, housing and food service, and human resources functions; transportation and physical facilities including the airport and performance halls; and shares responsibility for management of the university's information technology functions. Olsen previously served as vice president for business and finance at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, vice president for business affairs and treasurer at Eastern Illinois University, and vice president for fiscal affairs and chief business officer at Emporia State University in Kansas. "The association selects its volunteer leaders in large part because they exhibit strategic and visionary thinking, the willingness to share new ideas and the desire to contribute to the greater good of our organization," said Damon J. Manetta, the association's manager of public affairs. "That certainly applies to Morgan." Olsen's term begins Aug. 1 when he succeeds Joseph P. Mullinix, deputy president for administration at the National University of Singapore. Writer: Jim Schenke, (765) 494-6262, jschenke@purdue.edu Sources: Morgan R.
