4-H Day gives participants a glance at Purdue University

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — When the Purdue University Boilermaker football team takes the field against the Ball State Cardinals on Sept. 16, there will be several 4-H members and families in attendance to cheer them on.

The Purdue athletic department will sponsor 4-H and Purdue Extension Day to give 4-H youth, Purdue Extension staff members and their families a look at the university in a fun setting like a football game.

"We want to bring people to campus and expose 4-H youth to Purdue," said Carl Broady, Extension specialist, 4-H youth. "We also want youth to have a fun time building memories with their 4-H friends."

In addition to attending the game, families who contact Broady in advance can arrange to take a walking tour of campus.

"Our goal is to provide people with a good feeling about Purdue," Broady said.

Tickets for 4-H and Purdue Extension Day are available on the Web for a discounted price of $17 each. In order to take advantage of this special offer, 4-H members, volunteers, families and Purdue Extension staff members should visit the athletic ticket Web site. Then go to the "buy tickets online here" link at the top of the page by clicking the "promotions" link on the left toolbar. A promotion code will be needed to proceed, which can be obtained by contacting the local county Extension office.

For more information or to set up a walking tour of campus, contact Broady at broady@purdue.edu or (765) 494-8435.
