Harvard dean to discuss changing role of research universities

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. —A Harvard University dean of engineering will speak at Purdue University on Friday (April 14) about engineering education and the changing role of research universities in the 21st century.

Venkatesh "Venky" Narayanamurti, Harvard's dean of engineering and applied sciences, will speak at 10 a.m. in Krannert Center, Room 124. A reception will follow in the center's Weiler Lounge, Room 100. The talk is part of the Industrial Engineering Distinguished Lecture Series.

Narayanamurti's lecture will highlight the increasing role of engineering and technology in our daily lives and the need for educating "renaissance engineers."
