Student fashion show: 'It's Not So Simple'

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Purdue University apparel and design technology students will present the 2006 annual spring fashion show, "It's Not So Simple," on Saturday (April 1).

The show starts at 6 p.m. in the Long Center for the Performing Arts, 111 N. Sixth St., Lafayette. Ticket prices are $8, $12 and $15. Tickets are available at the Long Center box office or by calling (765) 742-5664 from noon to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, or at the door on the night of the show.

Jane Matranga, the professor who teaches fashion design in the consumer sciences and retailing department, said her students go all out to bring high style and presentation to the community.

"The clothing is all original design by the students, and they organized all aspects of the show: staging, music and choreography," she said. "The students also auditioned student models from all over campus."

Matranga said students will receive scholarships, and awards will be presented for the best-constructed and best-designed garments.

There also is a student fashion and art exhibit preceding the fashion show from 5-6 p.m. in the St. John Pavilion, located adjacent to the Long Center.
