Student Wellness Office to offer spring break safety tips

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — The Purdue University Student Wellness Office will hold its annual Safe Spring Break Week from March 6-10.

The goal of the Safe Spring Break Campaign, now in its fifth year, is to provide students with information on how they can have a healthy and fun spring break. The campaign covers basic topics such as sun and travel safety, as well as alcohol poisoning prevention, sexual health, sexual assault prevention, and tattoo and body piercing safety.

"Safe Spring Break Week helps students understand the different preventive measures that can be taken in order to have a safe and healthy spring break," said Jenny Dinelli, alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs education coordinator in the Student Wellness Office.

Safe Spring Break "Survival Kits" will be available in the Ford Dining Court from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and in the Earhart Dinning Court from 5:30 - 7 p.m. on March 7. The kits will include items such as emery boards, healthy snacks, temporary tattoos, lip balm, mouthwash, lotion and breath mints, along with spring break safety tips.
