Boston Brass to perform at University Church

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — The Boston Brass, a classically centered brass quintet, will perform next week at University Church near the Purdue University campus.

The ensemble will play at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday (Feb. 21) at 320 North St. in West Lafayette.

Group members J.D. Shaw on French horn, Jeff Conner and Richard Kelley on trumpet, Ed Clough on trombone and Andrew Hitz on tuba will delve into a variety of music styles, including big band jazz, bebop and funk. Their variations, both vocally and instrumentally, have earned them appearances on the CBS Morning Show and National Public Radio's Performance Today.

The program will include pieces by Dmitri Shostakovich, Antonin Dvorak, Dizzy Gillespie and Duke Ellington. Purdue Convocations is sponsoring the event.
