'Discover Purdue' TV program continues weekly pace

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Purdue University's weekly television program "Discover Purdue" moves through February and into March with a varied slate of guests and topics.

Interviewees on the programs in late February and early March include the Dean of the College of Education George Hynd and student government President Jessica Hoffman in the show that airs the week of Feb. 19. All-American wrestler Chris Fleeger, nursing school head Julie Novak and head men's basketball coach Matt Painter will be guests on the show that airs the week of Feb. 26.

March programs feature women's basketball coach Kristy Curry and assistant professor for visual and performing arts Scott Shim the week of March 5 and Golden Girl Christie Stallings, Black Cultural Center director Renee Thomas and Dean of Libraries James L. Mullins the week of March 12.

The half-hour program has a total of 13 installments for statewide distribution. Each program includes campus feature segments and usually two or three studio interviews. The show is available for viewing on the World Wide Web.

Presented jointly by Information Technology at Purdue (ITaP) and the University Relations office, the program is scheduled to air weekly through the end of April.

The program appears on five television stations in Indianapolis, Merrillville, Fort Wayne, Evansville and Clarksville, reaching a total audience of nearly 2 million. Millions more can see the program on cable systems throughout Indiana, the Chicago area and one county in Kentucky.

In Lafayette-West Lafayette, the program is seen Tuesdays at 11 a.m. and Saturdays at 7 p.m. on Insight Communications Cable (Channel 13). On Purdue's West Lafayette campus, the program airs every Monday through Friday at 6:30 p.m. on the Purdue Channel on Insight Communications (Channel 5) and the University Residences Television Antenna System (Channel 15).

Outside the Lafayette-West Lafayette area, the program is seen as follows:

• Indianapolis area and on many cable systems statewide on WFYI-TV (Channel 20) Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2:30 p.m.

• Northwest Indiana and Chicago area on WYIN-TV (Channel 56) Sundays at 8 a.m. CST.

• Evansville area on WNIN-TV (Channel 9) Sundays at 8 a.m. CST.

• Fort Wayne area on WFWA-TV (Channel 39) Sundays at 6:30 a.m.

• Clarksville and Louisville area on WVHF-TV (Channel 9) Fridays at midnight.
