There is no charge. Top minds in the areas of nanotechnology from across the country will be on campus, addressing issues pertaining to research, applications, federal and private-sector funding, safety, facilities, and medicine, as well as the technology's impact on industry and the economy. Three formal panel discussions are planned: at 1:30-2:30 p.m., 3-5:15 p.m., and 5:30-7 p.m. in Stewart Center's Fowler Hall. The first is a panel of journalists that will help kick off the conference. Three leading national journalists who cover and follow trends in nanotechnology will offer their thoughts on "Giant Ideas for Nano's Future." Following that is a panel discussion that will focus on how nanotechnology is transforming our society. Panelists will discuss diverse subjects such as venture capital and corporate interests to manufacturing processes and nanoelectronics applications. At 5:30 p.m., Purdue President Martin C. Jischke will welcome a separate panel that will discuss public interest issues in nanotechnology from health care to ethics and policy.
