Appointments and promotions

– Adedayo Adeniyi, assistant director for human resources training and development, has been named interim director for organization change management and training for OnePurdue. OnePurdue is a three-year, systemwide information technology and business redesign initiative that will integrate three major administrative applications: student services, finance and human resources. The $73 million project will enable Purdue administrators and decision-makers to access a wide array of real-time information in customized report formats, which will aid in university planning and forecasting. Adeniyi's appointment is effective Jan. 9.

– Ronald J. Steuterman has been named the managing director of the Energy Center at Purdue's Discovery Park. Steuterman will implement the decisions of the Energy Center's executive board and manage the center's central office at Discovery Park. The Energy Center integrates the science and engineering strengths of Purdue to seek solutions to the existing energy crisis and reduce the country's dependence on foreign fuels. Steuterman, who earned bachelor's and master's degrees from Purdue, previously served at Purdue as the associate director of the Burton D. Morgan Center for Entrepreneurship and director of the center's Innovation Realization Lab. He also served as manager for the Burton D. Morgan Center's Undergraduate Certificate in Entrepreneurship and Innovation. Prior to joining Purdue, Steuterman spent 18 years in the energy service business.

Faculty and staff honors

– Kumares C. Sinha, the Edgar B. and Hedwig M. Olson Distinguished Professor of Civil Engineering, has been elected an honorary member of the American Society of Civil Engineers. He was inducted at a gala banquet in Los Angeles on Oct. 28 during the Annual Convention of the Society. Honorary membership is the highest honor bestowed by the society, which has granted 542 such honors in its 153-year history. The society has more than 140,000 members. Sinha was recognized for his outstanding contributions to research, education and practice in transportation engineering worldwide. His pioneering research on highway maintenance and pavement and bridge performance has helped to establish the field of highway infrastructure management. Further, his consulting work for the World Bank over many years has significantly influenced policies regarding construction financing and the maintenance and rehabilitation of highways and civil infrastructure in the developing world. Sinha's dedication to teaching and excellence has helped many of his former students achieve prominent positions in academia and in the public and private sectors. His work has appeared in 350 journals and other publications. He has been the recipient of numerous awards and honors from various organizations.
