Jischke to provide update on Purdue athletics

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue University President Martin C. Jischke on Wednesday (Jan. 4) will give his Boilermaker Report, an annual update on the role recreational, intramural and intercollegiate athletics play in creating a preeminent university.

From 2-3 p.m., during WBAA Radio's live call-in show "AM 920 Magazine," Jischke will field questions from host Dan Skinner and the listening audience.

"Purdue was the first university in the United States to build a recreational sports center solely to serve students' recreational sports needs," Skinner said. "What began as men’s intramural activity has evolved into one of the most comprehensive programs in the country."

Jischke will discuss new facilities that are advancing all levels of athletic activity, the growth of club athletics and the contributions of NCAA athletics to university pride and culture.

To ask questions, local listeners can call (765) 496-1999. Listeners outside the local calling area can call toll-free at (866) 922-2101.

Jischke discusses different topics on every show, which usually airs the first Wednesday of each month. Skinner said past interview topics with the president included Purdue's strategic plan, the university's economic impact on Indiana, and new construction on campus.

WBAA's AM signal reaches approximately two-thirds of Indiana and can be heard globally via the station's Web site.
