on the appointment of Linda Katehi as provost at the University of Illinois

"I am very sorry that Purdue is losing Linda Katehi, but I certainly celebrate her advancement to lead the academic enterprises of another great university. She has provided extraordinary leadership for the College of Engineering. Her achievements include the outstanding faculty she has recruited and retained, significant advancement in the college's national rankings and leadership in improving K-college education in engineering and science."

"The appointment of Dr. Katehi as provost at the University of Illinois reflects the tremendous promise that we saw in her when we recruited her to become dean of Purdue's College of Engineering.
