November 2, 2005 Purdue Technology Center firm fosters growth of minority-owned businessesMERRILLVILLE, Ind. - The October issue of Washington Technology has ranked ProLogic Inc., a Purdue Technology Center technology solutions firm, as one of the nation's top small government contractors for its collaborations with minority-owned businesses. ProLogic Inc. was ranked No.15 on the publication's annual Top 25 8(a) Contractors list, which recognizes some of the most successful small businesses in the government market that participate in the 8(a) program that fosters the growth of minority-owned businesses through set-aside contracts and other procurement programs. In addition to its offices in Indiana, ProLogic has headquarters in West Virginia and business operations in six other states. "To seize on an opportunity, we must push the envelope of science by developing high-risk, technological solutions primarily used by the defense establishment," said Joseph Barr, Ph.D., ProLogic's chief scientist. "ProLogic has a solid track record in creating innovative technological breakthroughs for the Department of Defense and the Department of Homeland Security." Companies on the Top 25 8(a) Contractors list are ranked by their overall information technology (IT) prime contracting revenue in fiscal 2004, but they must have a minimum of $1 million in 8(a) contracts. Of the 25 companies on the list, 13 can be classified as IT services providers, five as engineering and professional services firms, four as consulting firms, and three as value-added resellers.
