'Autumn Leaves' concert offers colorful big band tunes

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue's American Music Review and Lab Jazz Band match fall's foliage with a colorful array of big band tunes at their "Autumn Leaves" concert 8 p.m. Oct. 21 in Loeb Playhouse of the Purdue Stewart Center.

Admission is free.

The concert takes its title from the evocative Joseph Kosma tune "Autumn Leaves" and will be performed by the American Music Review which specializes in swing era tunes. The band, directed by Bill Kisinger, features several singers and the concert showcases them in "Fly Me ToThe Moon," "How Sweet It Is," "The Nearness of You" and "The Lady is a Tramp."

The Lab Jazz Band, directed by M.T. "Mo" Trout, will perform Alan Baylock's "Two Seconds to Midnight" and Victor Lopez' "Chick on the Grill" among other selections.
