October 7, 2005 Purdue Extension workshops offer help for entrepreneursWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - A workshop to be offered around the state by the Purdue University Cooperative Extension Service's New Ventures Team can help entrepreneurs determine whether or not they should start a new business. "There are a lot of steps to starting a new business," said Maria Marshall, a Purdue Extension small business development specialist. "This workshop can help people get on the right track to starting a successful business." The workshops, called An Introduction to New Ventures: Generating a Business from Ideas, all begin at 7 p.m. local time and include discussions on idea generation, entrepreneurial traits, elements of a business plan and where to find resources. Cost is $10 per person, and preregistration is not required. "Creating a business plan is one of the most important steps in starting a business, and it's one that many entrepreneurs overlook," Marshall said. "A good business plan includes a market analysis, lays out production plans and covers your financial plan." Workshops are scheduled for: Oct. 13 - Knox Community School Corp., Knox. Oct. 27 - Purdue Extension-Dearborn County Extension Office, Aurora. Nov. 9 - Cass County Fairgrounds, Logansport. Nov. 15 - Montgomery County Fairgrounds, Crawfordsville. Nov. 15 - Southwest Purdue Ag Center, Vincennes. Nov. 17 - Purdue Extension-Allen County office, Fort Wayne.
