September 22, 2005 Rock group 311 to perform at Purdue UniversityWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. The Purdue Student Concert Committee will present rock group 311 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8, in Elliott Hall of Music. Members of 311, Nick Hexum, Tim Mahoney, Chad Sexton, P-Nut and SA Martinez, grew up in Omaha, Neb. Various combinations of the group played together in high school, but it was not until 1990 that the group 311 officially came together. In 1993, the group released its first major label album, "Music," which has since turned Gold. The follow up album "Grassroots" was released just 16 months later and is now also a Gold album. The group continued producing while touring in support of "Grassroots" and released its third album "311" in 1995. With the release of "311," the group's fan base spread from the Midwest to the west coast, supporting both extensive touring and album production. In August, 311 released its eighth album, "Don't Tread On Me." The group's fall tour supporting "Don't Tread On Me" will run from October through December, focusing on university performances. All tickets are $35, including a $1 facilities fee. Tickets go on sale to Purdue students, faculty and staff 10 a.m. Thursday (Sept. 29) at campus box offices. Tickets go on sale to the general public 10 a.m. Friday (Sept. 30) at campus box offices and all Ticketmaster outlets. Campus box offices can be reached by calling (765) 494-3933.
