Jischke to discuss Purdue's international student enrollment

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Purdue University President Martin C. Jischke on Tuesday (Sept. 27) will discuss changes in the enrollment patterns of international students caused by the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks and other factors in the global market.

From 2-3 p.m., during WBAA Radio's live call-in show "AM 920 Magazine," Jischke will field questions from program director David Bunte and the listening audience.

"International students make unique contributions to campus life," station manager Dan Skinner said. "Having one of the largest international populations in the nation enriches Purdue in a myriad of ways."

Jischke will discuss efforts by Purdue to make international students feel welcome and to help them navigate the increasingly complex enrollment process for students from overseas. Local listeners can call (765) 496-1999. Listeners outside the local calling area can call toll-free at (866) 922-2101.

Jischke discusses different topics on every show, which typically airs the first Wednesday of each month. This month, Jischke was traveling in China during the program's regularly scheduled date. Skinner said past interview topics with the president included student housing, campus security and building maintenance.

WBAA's AM signal reaches approximately two-thirds of Indiana and can be heard globally via the station's Web site.
