July 13, 2005 Purdue Ag dean to travel the state for 'tool shed' tourWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue University's newest dean of agriculture will tour Indiana this summer for a series of informal "meet the dean" events. During the Tool Shed Tour, Randy Woodson, who began his tenure as dean in November, will discuss his vision for Purdue Agriculture and answer questions from those attending the sessions. "This is a chance for me to interact with alumni and friends from around the state," Woodson said. "I look forward to sharing my plans for the college and hearing what they think are important issues for Purdue Agriculture to address." The first stop is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday (July 19) at the Owen County Fairgrounds in Spencer, Ind. Advance registration is requested by calling (888) EXT-INFO and asking for the Ag Alumni office. A pulled pork barbecue meal is available for $5. A second stop is slated for 6 p.m. on July 23 at the Vermillion County Fairgrounds in Cayuga, Ind. A pork burger meal is available for $8. Registration is due Monday (July 18) by calling (888) EXT-INFO. Woodson also has tour stops tentatively scheduled for Aug. 25 in Vigo County and Aug. 29 in Jackson County. Information about those events will be available from the Ag Alumni office at a later date. Later this year, he will travel to locations in northern Indiana. The Purdue Ag Alumni Association is sponsoring the events. Donya Lester, executive secretary of association said, "We wanted to our give alumni and friends an opportunity to speak with the dean face-to-face in an informal setting." Woodson also will attend Purdue Day on Aug. 17 at the Indiana State Fair. A meet the dean event will take place from noon to 2 p.m. in the state fair hospitality tents behind the Farm Bureau Building.
