Gov. Daniels speaks at manufacturing summit
Gov. Mitch Daniels spoke today (Wednesday, May 25) at Summit IV: Advancing Manufacturing in Indiana, which took place on Purdue University's West Lafayette campus. More than 400 manufacturers, state government representatives and academics spent the day discussing how they can work better together to keep a strong manufacturing base for the Indiana economy. Daniels said, "Manufacturing had better advance or we [as a state] won't."

The panel was part of Summit IV: Advancing Manufacturing in Indiana, which took place today (Wednesday, May 25) at Purdue. Also on the panel (from left) are State Sen. David Ford, R-Hartford City; Purdue President Martin C. Jischke; Patrick J. Kiely, president and CEO of the Indiana Manufacturers Association; Maurer; and John Sullivan, director of Purdue's Center for Advanced Manufacturing. In addition to the panel and a speech by Gov. Mitch Daniels, attendees discussed industry-university relationships, disruptive technologies and innovation, Indiana legislative issues, and how industries can take advantage of Purdue's Center for Advanced Manufacturing.
