OnePurdue contracts awarded to SAP, BearingPoint

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue's Board of Trustees today (Friday, April 8) awarded contracts to two companies to provide software services as part of the university's initiative to modernize its enterprise computing systems into a Web-based portfolio of applications that integrates all enterprise data, information and processes.

SAP Public Services Inc., of Washington, D.C., has been awarded a $4.08 million contract to provide enterprise resource planning (ERP) software technology that will be the major component of the project, called OnePurdue.

BearingPoint Inc., of Indianapolis, has been awarded an $18.9 million contract to serve as Purdue's ERP implementation partner for the duration of the three-year project.

"The selection of these business partners is the culmination of a comprehensive process that began last fall," said Morgan R. Olsen, Purdue executive vice president and treasurer. "SAP and BearingPoint have solid backgrounds in implementing complex ERP systems."

Gary Newsom, OnePurdue's executive director, said, "We set some pretty high standards for all of the companies who submitted proposals for this project, and SAP and BearingPoint best met our requirements."

As the university's implementation partner, BearingPoint will designate a group of consultants to work with OnePurdue's project team in West Lafayette, Newsom said.

"BearingPoint and its team have been through numerous projects like this, including several with SAP, and its experience will be invaluable," he said.

OnePurdue has been in the planning stages for almost three years, and kicked off a year of intensive preparation last July, said Jeff Whitten, the project's chief architect. The OnePurdue team will be located in Purdue's Research Park. The project is scheduled to begin May 1.

More information about OnePurdue is available online.
