Scheduled maintenance will affect Purdue campus computer access

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Due to scheduled maintenance, Purdue computer users will not have access to some data and services from 8 a.m. to noon, Sunday, April 3.

During that time, career account home directories and file services will be unavailable. Campus users will be unable to access the H-drive, the central storage unit for student computer files, or use FTP services. Users will still be able to check e-mail, but those doing so in a campus lab will have to access it through Web Mail. Users will not be able to access their personal Web pages or access or move files that are stored on the H-drive.

"If students want to do homework on Sunday morning, they will have to remove their files from the H-drive before then," said Information Technology at Purdue (ITaP) spokesperson Jennifer Kapp.

Career account authentication will be unaffected, so users will still be able to log on at computer labs to create new documents or work on files they've removed from the H-drive. Maintenance was scheduled for Sunday morning to minimize inconvenience to campus users. But all campus users, including those working in ITaP's Instructional Computing Labs or accessing their data and files remotely, will be affected during the maintenance.

"We recognize the downtime will create an inconvenience, and we will do everything we can to finish the work as quickly as possible," said Darren Overfelt, director of ITaP's Infrastructure Operations unit.
