February 25, 2005 Workshop guides writers developing grant proposalsWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue University Cooperative Extension Service is offering its fourth annual workshop to help enhance grant proposal writing skills. "Last year's participants reported more than $1 million in funded proposals," said Aadron Rausch, Extension Specialist and certified grant writer. "Participants will learn skills they can use to improve their own communities." The Beginner's Guide to Grant Writing is a two-part videoconference workshop to be conducted by state specialists on Purdue's campus and Extension educators at 17 different sites throughout the state. The two-day workshop will be offered April 6 and May 4 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This workshop is for both novice and experienced grant writers who want to learn a proven, effective process to develop ideas into winning proposals, target potential funders, and understand the full proposal development, submission and review process. "Each participant will develop their own ideas into a proposal outline, expand the outline into a complete proposal, learn the process for critiquing and scoring proposals, and identify strategies for matching proposal ideas to potential funders," said Rausch, who developed the program. The registration deadline is March 7, and forms are available at all Purdue Extension offices or by contacting Terry Saunders at (888) 398-4636, tasaunde@purdue.edu. The cost to attend the workshop is $125 per person. This fee includes the "Beginner's Guide to Grant Writing" manual, lunch both days and follow-up technical assistance.
