First president's radio show of 2005 to focus on athletics

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue University President Martin C. Jischke on Wednesday (Jan. 5) will talk about athletics on WBAA's live call-in radio show.

From 2-3 p.m. during the station's "AM920 Magazine" Jischke will field questions from WBAA station manager Dan Skinner and the listening audience.

"For his first show of the year, the president will talk about the successes and benefits of intercollegiate athletics," Skinner said. "He will also discuss recreational sports."

Local listeners can call (765) 496-1999. Listeners outside the local calling area can call toll-free at (866) 922-2101.

Jischke discusses different topics on every show, which airs the first Wednesday of each month through June. Skinner said past interviews with the president included a focus on diversity, athletics, marketing, teaching, engagement and funding sources.

WBAA's AM signal reaches approximately two-thirds of Indiana and can be heard globally via the station's Web site.
