Purdue NotebookNovember 12, 2004 Campus activities WorkLife Programs Wellness Ambassadors from housing and food services will present the Elder Caregiver Resource Fair from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday (Nov. 18) in the Hillenbrand Hall Atrium. Several groups will have tables with information, such as Hanna Community Center, Coalition for Living Well after 50, the Senior Center and representatives from various Purdue departments. A panel of experts from local agencies will talk about "What Every Caregiver Needs to Know" from noon to 1 p.m. The resource fair is open to all Purdue employees, spouses and retirees. For more information, call Branna Smith at (765) 496-3084. Purdue's Visitor Information Center is seeking student volunteers to serve as tour guides. The tour guide callout meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 12 in Beering Hall, Room 2280. The Purdue Climate Change Research Center will sponsor a workshop and poster session from 1-6 p.m. on Friday (Nov. 19) in Stewart Center, Room 302. The workshop is for anyone interested in increasing their understanding of climate change science and climate change related issues. Topics of discussion will include cycles of greenhouse gases, regional and global scale climate modeling, climate change impacts mitigation, and technology and policy. Purdue's Matthew Huber will give the invited lecture, "Climate Change Surprises," at 2 p.m. Free registration is available online. Stanton B. Gelvin will deliver the annual McCoy Distinguished Lecture at 3:30 p.m. on Monday (Nov. 29) in Fowler Hall, Stewart Center. Gelvin, professor of biological sciences in Purdues School of Science, will speak on "The Molecular mechanism of plant genetic transformation by agrobacterium tumefaciens, natures genetic engineer." The lecture and reception, which follows the lecture in the Stewart Center art gallery, are free and open to the public. Full description of Gelvins talk is available as a PDF document.
