Purdue Theatre to perform 'Under Milk Wood'

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue University Theatre will perform Dylan Thomas' "Under Milk Wood" at 8 p.m. Nov. 18-21 in the Black Box Theatre, Creative Arts Building 3.

Called a "play for voices" by the author, "Under Milk Wood" paints a moving, and sometimes irreverent, portrait of a day in the life of a coastal village in Wales. Completed just before the poet's death in 1953, "Under Milk Wood" has been called "the most complete expression of Thomas' unique perspective on the human condition."

Guest artist Katherine Burke directs the production. Burke is artistic director for InterPlay, an interactive theater for dialogue that conducts workshops on topics like body image, communication, diversity and leadership.

"It would be hard for any work of art to communicate more directly and funnily and lovingly what it is like to be alive," said poet Randall Jarrell of "Under Milk Wood."

Tickets are on sale now at campus box offices for $5.50. Tickets may be purchased at the Loeb Box Office in Stewart Center, or by calling (765) 494-3933 or toll-free at (800) 914-SHOW. Processing fees apply.
