November 4, 2004 Women's Health Issues Forum focuses on breast cancerWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. Research and prevention of breast cancer will be the focus at the Women's Health Issues Forum at 7 p.m., Nov. 9. The forum will tak place in Hillenbrand Hall Atrium, 1301 Third St., on the Purdue University campus. Cynthia Stauffacher, professor of biological sciences and a member of the Purdue Cancer Center, will present the keynote address. She will discuss the breast cancer research being done at the Purdue Cancer Center. The event is hosted by the Purdue Musical Organization's Purduettes, in collaboration with the Purdue Cancer Center. This is the second year that the two groups have worked together. "The collaboration between the two organizations began last year in response to the need on Purdues campus to educate and engage women about issues affecting their health," said Julie Truesdell, a junior in the Purduettes and one of the organizers of the forum. "The Purduettes are also going to present the second annual Cancer Benefit Concert this March in Indianapolis in the hope to leave a lasting impression from our special events and to continually educate and enrich the minds of all women," she said. The event is free and open to the public. Donations may be made at the event to the Purduette and Purdue Cancer Center Scholarship Fund. Checks should be made payable to Purdue University.
