The Purdue University Varsity Glee Club will perform a Veterans Day recognition event on Nov. 11 in Indianapolis entitled "Ordinary Heroes Honoring All Who Served." Eli Lilly and Co. is sponsoring the event at the Indiana Roof Ballroom, 140 W. Washington St. A reception will take place at 5:30 p.m., followed by the banquet at 6:30 p.m. "The men and women of the armed services are true heroes," said Brian Breed, director of Purdue Musical Organizations. "It is our sincere commitment at PMO to demonstrate a level of respect for those heroes that is consistent with their extraordinary service, selfless sacrifice and most noble purpose." Tickets to the banquet are $30 each. To order, contact Jack Querfeld, vice president of the Veterans Day Council of Indianapolis, at (317) 630-1330. The Glee Club performed for more than 1,200 Indiana veterans at the Veterans Day recognition event in 2003. In appreciation, Glee Club members in January were awarded the Commanding General's Coin of Excellence, which is usually reserved for military personnel.
