Distinguished Extension educator award winner chosen

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Lynn Korniak, a 4-H/youth development educator for the Purdue University Cooperative Extension Service in Cass County, is this year's recipient of the Paul B. Crooks Distinguished Extension Educator Award. The award was announced Tuesday (10/19) during the annual Purdue Extension Development Conference banquet on Purdue's West Lafayette campus.

Korniak places special importance on leadership development, especially through the 4-H Jr. Leader program and 4-H camp. Some of her other programs include a fourth-grade safety camp, the Super Kid Sitter program and a mini 4-H day camp.

She is a member of the Indiana Extension Educators Association and the National Association of Extension 4-H Agents.

The Crooks Award is a $2,500 cash endowment given to a Purdue Extension educator who has at least 10 years of experience. The award recognizes educators who have shown significant impact in their area of assignment, teamwork and collaboration, and exceptional Extension programming.

The award was named for Paul Crooks, who was an Extension educator in Benton, Fountain and Morgan counties. He served as associate director of Purdue Extension from 1962 to 1982. The memorial award was first given in 1985.
