Glee Club to perform benefit concert in Fort Wayne

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Purdue University Varsity Glee Club will perform a benefit concert in Fort Wayne, Ind., on Friday (Oct. 15).

The group, under the direction of Brian D. Breed, will perform at 7:30 p.m. at the Scottish Rite Center, 431 W. Berry St. All proceeds will benefit the Masonic Learning Center for Children in Fort Wayne, which offers free tutoring services to children with dyslexia. A fish fry will take place prior to the concert at 5:30 p.m.

Clint Glessner, a businessman and one of the event organizers, will be memorialized at the concert. Glessner, a 1990 Purdue graduate and former member of the Purdue Varsity Glee Club, was killed Sept. 25 in a plane crash near Huntington, Ind.

Glessner was an avid supporter of Purdue Musical Organizations and was a dedicated fundraiser for the Masonic Learning Center. He is survived by his wife, Julia, and daughter, Stephanie.

Tickets for the concert and fish fry are $25, tickets for the concert only are $18 and tickets for the fish fry only are $7. Founded in 1893, the Purdue Varsity Glee Club is a university tradition. The glee club has performed around the nation, including national television, four presidential inaugurations, and at many national and international concert events and expositions.
