Purdue to make 20 announcements in 9 days Oct. 14-22

As part of a 10-day Homecoming celebration this month – Oct. 14-22 – Purdue University will be the site of more than 20 events involving more than $42 million in gifts, groundbreakings, building dedications and more. We hope you will find them newsworthy.

To facilitate your coverage, we have outlined each event below. We plan to send you copies of the news releases well in advance, beginning with one this Wednesday (Oct. 6), and most of the rest on Monday, Oct. 11. The subject line of each email will start with the words "PU HOME" so you can differentiate these releases from others.

In all but one case, you are welcome to do interviews in advance of the event, but we ask that you honor the embargo for each. The exception is noted below.

In many cases, the embargo will be for the morning of the event, giving you the opportunity to get out in front of the news. However, in a few cases, we have embargoed the releases until after the event. The embargoes will be clearly stated on the releases and also are listed below.

Most releases will offer photos and audio, available online. In most instances, additional photos, audio and video will be available after the event as well.

Special note to TV journalists: To facilitate coverage, we will mail a compilation of video b-roll for each event on Wednesday (Oct. 6). The tape will be clearly marked so you will know what b-roll is applicable to what day. The embargoed news releases will be e-mailed to you as soon as they are ready.

Journalists are welcome to cover all the events, including those closed to the general public.
