– Purdue University's Breaking New Ground Outreach Program honored three Indiana FFA Chapters at last summer's Indiana State FFA Convention on the Purdue campus. Owen Valley FFA received first prize for building a ramp to help a wheelchair-bound woman get access to her home. Paoli FFA received second for improving accessible parking at its county's fairgrounds and Rensselaer FFA won third prize for constructing a wheelchair ramp to their school's greenhouse.

– The Barbara Cook Chapter of Mortar Board National College Senior Honor Society received national recognition at the Mortar Board National Conference, which took place July 23-25 in Columbus, Ohio. Purdue's chapter received two Program of Excellence awards for the chapter's leadership conference, called "Cooking Up Leadership," and the Reading is Leading Program's "Reading Extravaganza." The chapter's Web site received an honorable mention as well.
