September 3, 2004 Organizational Leadership and Supervision department offers job fairWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. The Purdue University Department of Organizational Leadership and Supervision will sponsor the Employers Showcase, an event organizers say is a "job fair with a twist." The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 8 in Stewart Center, Room 302, and is open to all students, alumni and community members. At noon Indiana Rep. Sheila Klinker, D-Lafayette, will discuss the state job market and offer advice to students in the midst of job hunting. Cynthia Tomovic, organizational leadership and supervision department head, said that although the department is sponsoring the event, students from schools and departments across campus are encouraged to attend. "Organizational leadership and supervision is a very broad field with many applications," Tomovic said. "These companies are not just looking to fill one type of position. They all know the value of a Purdue education and are hoping to hire Purdue students and graduates in a wide variety of professional positions." Students and other attendees do not need to preregister for the job fair, but they should bring resumes to give to company representatives. Tomovic said the job fair will include a "twist" that sets it apart from other job fairs. Every 30 minutes, a company's representative will have a chance to speak about their company, its work environment and the kind of employees it is recruiting. Among the companies that will attend are Coachmen Industries, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Fairfield Manufacturing Co., Guardian Industries, Jeld-Wen, NCR, Pulte Homes, Red Gold, Sonoco, Steak 'n Shake, Target Distribution, Tyson Mexican Original and ZS Associates.
