July 26, 2004 Purdue experts to offer advice at Farm World ExpoWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Several Purdue University agriculture experts will be featured on stage each day during the Farm World Expo, taking place Aug. 3-5 at the Wabash Valley Fairgrounds in Terre Haute, Ind. "The Purdue stage attracted a big crowd - all day, each day - during last year's show," said David Blower, editor of Farm World. Purdue experts will take the stage daily from 9 a.m. to noon. Each presentation will be repeated three times, and each day will feature speakers around a central theme. Topics include: Tuesday, Aug. 3. Midwest Crop Day - Topics include Department of Transportation compliance of farm trucks, an insect pest update and herbicide resistance. Fred Whitford of Purdue Pesticide Programs will present. Wednesday, Aug. 4. Farm Management Day - Topics include an economic outlook by agricultural economist Chris Hurt, new ventures in agriculture and goats. Thursday, Aug. 5. Natural Resources Day - Timber management, aquaculture and pond management. In addition to the morning speakers, a private applicator recertification program will take place from 1-3 p.m. Aug. 3. Registration will be accepted until the room is full, which is approximately 50 people. The Farm World Expo features more than 250 exhibitors. The expo runs from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on. Aug. 3, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Aug. 4 and from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Aug. 5. There is a $5 fee to park, but admission is free. More information about the Farm World Expo is available on the Web.
