July 9, 2004 Purdue student earns Rolls-Royce accoladesWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. Sean Weber, a senior in Purdue's School of Materials Engineering, has been recognized as Rolls-Royce North America's Co-op of the Year for 2003. Weber's four sessions at the company's Indianapolis location included assignments in manufacturing, project engineering, business development and mechanical design. Most notably, he spent two sessions working for the JSF LiftFan team, where he helped to design and test components of Rolls-Royce's propulsion system for the Joint Strike Fighter. Weber, who is from Anderson, Ind., also has been nominated to receive the National Cooperative Education Student of the Year Award, which is annually presented by the American Society of Engineering Education (ASEE)/Cooperative Education Division (CED), jointly with the Cooperative Education and Internship Association (CEIA). Selection criteria for this award include academic achievement, accomplishments as a cooperative employee, leadership, character and community involvement.
