June 4, 2004 Folk singer John Gorkas Sunday appearance cancelledWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. Folk musician John Gorka and special guest Mustards Retreat will not be performing Sunday (6/6). The concert, scheduled for Sunday at 7:30 p.m. in Stewart Centers Fowler Hall, has been cancelled. The show was to be presented by Purdue Convocations and Friends of Bob, a Lafayette-area music cooperative. Purdue Convocations assistant director Laura Clavio said, "It is unfortunate that the community will not be able experience John Gorka. He is a great musician. However, a combination of low ticket sales and significant show expenses forced the shows cancellation." Friends of Bob show coordinator Richard Fudge said, "Friends of Bob has never presented a concert during the summer. This was an experiment. We will have to analyze the disappointing response and learn from it. Presenting live music is not a predictable affair." All tickets, regardless of purchase location, will be refunded through the campus box office. Ticket holders should call (765) 494-3933 for more information.
